Horse Shoe Farm open for vacation, venue rentals
With a focus on health and wellness, The Horse Shoe Farm in Hendersonville hopes to be a place of connection and community.
Along with rental spaces, the new development off South Rugby Road includes a spa and venue spaces.
Jordan Turchin is managing the property, and his father, John Turchin, is the developer. The previous plan for the site was for a 198-unit residential development, which then shrunk down to 132 units.
Switching gears, the current focus is vacation rentals and events. The 80-acre-plus landscape is available for weddings, family reunions, workshops, retreats and more.
The project is naturally progressing by itself, Jordan Turchin said. Future development plans for the land remain undecided.
As of now, seven vacation homes are available for booking, which combined can sleep around 50 people. The property has two large inside event spaces and plenty of outside space to set up more.
A yoga/meditation area is set up as a sacred space, and there is a farmhouse with a plethora of items for indoor and outdoor activities. Those staying at the farm also have access to the lounge/eating area, spa and walking labyrinth.
“People come here seeking an experience and something different,” Turchin said.
Inquires about the farm have come from a mix of locals and visitors, he added.
The property has two ponds, which can be used for fishing, swimming and kayaking. Streams and the French Broad River also flow through the land. Mountain and other scenic views surround the farm.
“People really connect here, whether it is to nature, themselves or each other,” Turchin said.
The first rental on the property came this summer, when a large family stayed for several days for a reunion. Weddings have already been hosted on the property and more are planned in the near future. A yoga retreat just wrapped up a stay on the farm. Some people have come by themselves as a getaway, Turchin said.
The community has been interested in and supportive of the farm, according to Turchin, who said the farm wants to build partnerships with other local businesses. Some spaces on the farm, like the spa, are available for anyone to book an appointment, regardless of whether they are staying on the property.
One future aspiration is to have monthly farm-to-table dinners open to the community. The owners would also like to expand the farming operation in the future.
The surroundings have guided Turchin so far in the process, he said, adding that he wants to continue to see it grow organically.
“I want what it wants,” Turchin said of the nature on the property.
The Henderson County Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Business After Hours and grand opening celebration from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the farm.
The grand opening celebration includes a ribbon cutting and tours of the multiple venues on-site.
